Team Overview

The Costa Rica Finance team supports accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial operations for TransUnion’s Costa Rica activities. The team partners with Procurement, Legal, Strategy, and other internal stakeholders to maintain strong controls, support informed business decisions, and fulfill local statutory and Free Trade Zone obligations. This role reports to the Manager II, Accounting.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

  • Support accurate and compliant financial operations in Costa Rica by delivering timely financial analyses, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and actionable insights.

  • Conduct and communicate financial analyses that identify business trends, risks, opportunities, and material variances for internal stakeholders.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve workflows, establish key performance indicators, implement best practices, and increase operational efficiency.

  • Support audits, taxation, forecasting, month-end close, and internal control activities, including actuals, accruals, adjustments, and depreciation.

  • Manage monthly and annual tax filings and regulatory reporting, including PROCOMER Canon Reporting and the Annual Operating Report for PROCOMER.

  • Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Assets Auxiliary for corporate and local reporting purposes.

  • Assist with internal and external audits, payroll-related matters, and the completion of statutory books.

  • Oversee customs processes and manage imports through the TICA system, partnering with Procurement, Legal, and Strategy on Free Trade Zone matters.

  • Complete accurate and timely bank reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and support compliance with internal control standards.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable Costa Rican financial regulations, Free Trade Zone requirements, and PROCOMER obligations.


Required Knowledge And Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least four years of accounting or finance experience, including experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, compliance, or related operational processes.

  • Strong knowledge of Costa Rican financial regulations, including Free Trade Zone and PROCOMER requirements, and the ability to apply this knowledge to reporting and compliance activities.

  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly through verbal, written, and visual formats.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to investigate and explain financial variances clearly and concisely.

Required Technical Skills

  • Experience using the TICA system to support imports and customs-related processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, account reconciliations, reporting, and variance investigation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for documentation, presentations, reporting, and stakeholder communication.

  • Experience supporting account reconciliations, fixed-asset accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.

  • CPI certification.

  • Certified Public Accountant license in Costa Rica.

  • Experience using BlackLine or a similar account-reconciliation platform.

  • Experience with costing, customs, and Free Trade Zone operations in a medium or large company.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, improve financial processes, and implement operational best practices.
