We are seeking experienced Aircraft Hydraulics Repair / Aviation Ground Support Equipment Advisors to support current and future Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs worldwide.
This position provides an opportunity for an experienced aviation hydraulics and ground support equipment professional to continue serving the aviation community by providing technical expertise, maintenance instruction, troubleshooting assistance, equipment operation and maintenance training, mentorship, and advisory support to international partner-nation aviation organizations.
Position Summary
The Aircraft Hydraulics Repair / Aviation Ground Support Equipment Advisor (15H) serves as a technical aviation maintenance advisor responsible for providing instruction, troubleshooting assistance, equipment maintenance guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to partner-nation aviation maintenance personnel.
The advisor will provide subject matter expertise in aircraft hydraulic systems, hydraulic component repair, troubleshooting, fault isolation, hydraulic test equipment, aviation ground support equipment (GSE), equipment operation, preventive maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, and maintenance documentation.
The successful candidate will work directly alongside international military aviation maintenance organizations to develop and improve partner-nation capabilities in the operation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, servicing, and maintenance of aviation hydraulic systems and associated ground support equipment.
The advisor will emphasize the proper application of military aviation maintenance practices, technical manuals, safety procedures, preventive maintenance standards, quality-control practices, and equipment operating procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as an Aircraft Hydraulics Repair / Aviation Ground Support Equipment Advisor to FMS partner nations.
- Provide technical instruction, supervision, mentorship, and advisory support to international aviation maintenance personnel.
- Provide classroom and hands-on training covering aircraft hydraulic systems, hydraulic component maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, servicing, and testing.
- Provide instruction on the operation, inspection, servicing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of military aviation ground support equipment.
- Train and mentor partner-nation personnel in the safe and proper operation of aviation GSE used to support aircraft maintenance and flight operations.
- Provide instruction on hydraulic system troubleshooting, pressure testing, leak detection, contamination control, component replacement, and fault isolation.
- Assist maintenance personnel in identifying, troubleshooting, isolating, and correcting hydraulic system and component discrepancies.
- Provide technical guidance concerning hydraulic pumps, motors, actuators, valves, reservoirs, filters, accumulators, hoses, fittings, lines, and associated components.
- Provide instruction on the proper use of hydraulic test stands, test equipment, pressure gauges, flow meters, adapters, and other specialized hydraulic maintenance equipment.
- Train personnel on the proper operation, inspection, servicing, and maintenance of aviation ground support equipment.
- Provide instruction on GSE preventive maintenance, operator-level maintenance, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance.
- Assist partner-nation personnel with the identification and correction of GSE equipment faults and deficiencies.
- Provide technical guidance on ground power units, hydraulic power units, air-start equipment, compressors, heaters, generators, servicing equipment, maintenance stands, and other aviation support equipment, as applicable to the assigned program.
- Provide instruction on the proper application of technical manuals, equipment maintenance manuals, operator manuals, work packages, engineering instructions, and approved technical data.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in determining equipment serviceability in accordance with approved technical data and established maintenance procedures.
- Provide instruction on hydraulic system cleanliness, contamination prevention, fluid handling, filtration, servicing, and storage procedures.
- Train personnel on proper hydraulic fluid handling and the prevention of hydraulic system contamination and component damage.
- Provide guidance on the proper use, care, inspection, calibration, and accountability of specialized tools, test equipment, and GSE.
- Assist in establishing standardized GSE inspection, servicing, operating, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.
- Provide instruction on aircraft ground support equipment dispatch, utilization, maintenance tracking, and accountability procedures.
- Provide mentorship on aviation maintenance forms, equipment records, inspection documentation, maintenance records, and technical reporting requirements.
- Assist partner-nation organizations in developing effective equipment tracking, documentation, and accountability procedures.
- Advise maintenance leadership on hydraulic maintenance capability, GSE readiness, equipment availability, maintenance effectiveness, and technical deficiencies.
- Assist in identifying recurring hydraulic system and GSE failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Support maintenance training, qualification, progression, and continuation training requirements.
- Provide instruction on aviation maintenance safety, hydraulic pressure hazards, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, hazardous material procedures, and maintenance risk management.
- Assist with maintenance evaluations, equipment inspections, quality-control activities, and readiness assessments as directed by program leadership.
- Mentor aircraft mechanics, hydraulics repair personnel, GSE operators, GSE maintenance personnel, maintenance supervisors, quality-control personnel, and other aviation support personnel.
- Assist partner-nation aviation organizations in establishing standardized hydraulic maintenance and GSE operating and maintenance procedures.
- Assist with the development of hydraulic and GSE lesson plans, training materials, presentations, practical exercises, and technical training programs.
- Identify hydraulic and GSE training deficiencies and provide appropriate corrective instruction and remediation.
- Promote aviation safety, maintenance discipline, technical compliance, equipment accountability, and proper maintenance practices throughout all advisory activities.
- Support aircraft induction, fielding, acceptance, modification, modernization, and operational sustainment activities as required.
- Conduct training and advisory activities in accordance with applicable military regulations, technical manuals, aviation publications, safety requirements, equipment manuals, and program directives.
- Foster strong professional relationships while supporting the objectives of U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.
