Analytics Engineer - Power BI

Our client is a Sydney-based business currently running a large transformation project, with reporting split across teams and in need of a single, trusted source of truth.

About the Role
This is a hands-on contract role owning the semantic modelling layer end to end. You'll work directly with business stakeholders to translate questions into models and measures, rebuild reporting for consistency, and leave behind something maintainable.

Duties / Key Responsibilities

• Design and build semantic models in Power BI, including star schemas and DAX measures that perform at scale
• Rebuild and rationalise existing reports and datasets so the business works off one version of the truth
• Work directly with stakeholders to translate business questions into models and measures
• Improve refresh performance, workspace structure, and documentation so reporting is maintainable long term

Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on Power BI experience, well beyond report building
• Real depth in semantic modelling: dimensional design, relationships, DAX, and performance tuning
• Ability to work independently with stakeholders without heavy direction
• Full Australian working rights
• Currently based in Sydney and able to work 3 days per week onsite
