We are looking for friendly, responsible and service-oriented individuals to join our animal welfare team as an Animal Support Officer.

The Animal Support Officer plays an important role in supporting the SPCA’s 24-hour rescue operations. You will be a key point of contact for members of the public, handling emergency and non-emergency calls, assisting visitors at reception, coordinating animal welfare cases and supporting the smooth operation of our rescue services.

Working Hours: 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm, four days per week
The role requires working on weekends and public holidays as part of the scheduled shifts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Handle the SPCA’s 24-hour emergency hotline, screening and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls and enquiries.
  • Attend to members of the public at reception and provide professional and friendly assistance in person and over the telephone.
  • Screen and assess a high volume of enquiries, including animal rescue cases, cruelty cases, surrenders, animal claims and other animal-related matters.
  • Assess and prioritise rescue cases according to the level of risk and urgency, based on established guidelines.
  • Mobilise Animal Rescue Officers to attend to cases requiring assistance.
  • Arrange and manage clinic bookings for animals requiring veterinary attention, ensuring appointments are scheduled promptly based on the urgency of each case.
  • Monitor the SPCA’s WhatsApp account, identify relevant cases and ensure that cases are properly logged and followed up.
  • Escalate urgent or important cases and emergencies to the HOD, Operations, where appropriate.
  • Provide administrative support to other departments, including disseminating information and transferring calls.
  • Process basic transactions such as adoption and surrender fees, donations and merchandise sales.
  • Support general facilities management by ensuring all access doors are properly closed and secured after office hours.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure relevant information is communicated promptly to the appropriate teams.
  • Uphold a high standard of customer service and service delivery at all times.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum GCE “N” Level or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in reception, customer service, administration, call handling, veterinary clinics or animal welfare will be an advantage.
  • Basic computer and administrative skills.
  • Friendly, professional and confident when interacting with members of the public, both in person and over the telephone.
  • Comfortable handling animals and working in an animal welfare environment.
  • Responsible, reliable and able to work independently
