Application System Analyst - Banking Technology
Summary
Application System Analyst embedded in banking technology, working with BA, infra, deployment and vendor teams to design, build and support Java/J2EE, Oracle and middleware-based platforms across the SDLC. Core stack: Java/J2EE, Oracle SQL/PL-SQL, Unix/Linux, WebLogic/WebSphere, plus DevOps tooling (Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube).
Responsibilities:
· Work closely with the BA, infra, deployments and vendor teams.
· Use and manage vendor augmented resources and ensure work assignments for high utilization and effective, quality outcomes while avoiding re-work
· Drive technical innovation to enhance functional and technical capabilities of the platform
· Build frameworks for configuration instead of code for each component
· Communicate with technical and non-technical resources and work with limited direction while being highly productive
· Apply standards and industry frameworks while leverage existing technologies and tools in the Bank
· Implement solutions considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance.
· Produce detailed design /low level design documents that communicate the system design effectively
· Drive adherence to development, configuration management and deployment standards for solutions
· Analyse performance test, vulnerability assessments and any other test related issues that arise during projects
· Manage, address and resolve project-related technical issues in a timely fashion, ensuring necessary escalation and communication to stakeholders as necessary
· Select, train, develop and manage technical team members in a conducive team environment
· Lead multi-vendor teams to successfully deliver solutions
· Guide the project team in issue resolution to meet the requirements and timelines
Requirements:
Education:
- Degree with 8-10 years of current, hands on technical experience
Essential:
- 8 to 10 years of hands-on technical experience.
- Go-getter attitude with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including both Agile and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
- Strong hands-on experience in: Java/J2EE application development, Oracle SQL / PL-SQL,
- Basic Unix/Linux knowledge, including: File system navigation, Process monitoring, Log analysis
- Hands-on shell scripting experience (e.g. Shell, Korn Shell, Bash) will be an advantage.
- Experience with middleware and integration technologies such as: WebLogic / WebSphere, SFTP / Connect Direct / MQ / API, XML / JSON
- Understanding of DevOps tools and software delivery practices (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube, CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience in technical design, low-level design, and solution documentation.
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and issue resolution.
Advantage / Good to Have:
· Banking or Financial Services domain experience.
· Experience with performance tuning and automation.
- Understanding of data security, privacy, data protection, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
· Experience with Microservices architecture.
· Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container technologies.
· Exposure to Kafka or event-driven architecture.
