1. Concept Design

  • Understand client requirements, project brief, budget, and design objectives.
  • Develop overall design concept and design narrative.
  • Prepare mood boards, material palettes, and color schemes.
  • Develop initial space-planning concepts.
  • Establish furniture, fixtures, finishes, and equipment (FF&E) direction.
  • Prepare initial 3D views/renders where required.

2. Space Planning & Test Fit

  • Review architectural layouts and develop interior space planning.
  • Prepare furniture layouts and circulation studies.
  • Coordinate room functions, capacities, and operational requirements.
  • Prepare test-fit layouts based on approved occupancy schedules.
  • Coordinate changes with architectural, MEP, structural, and other disciplines.

3. Developed Design

  • Develop approved concept into detailed interior design.
  • Prepare detailed floor plans.
  • Prepare reflected ceiling plans.
  • Prepare flooring and finish plans.
  • Prepare wall elevations and interior elevations.
  • Develop feature walls, decorative elements, partitions, and architectural details.
  • Develop furniture layouts and FF&E selections.
  • Develop lighting design coordination with the electrical/lighting consultant.

4. Material & Finish Selection

  • Prepare detailed material and finish schedules.
  • Select flooring, wall finishes, ceilings, paint, stone, timber, metal, glass, fabrics, etc.
  • Prepare material boards and samples.
  • Coordinate material selections with the approved budget.
  • Review alternative materials where required.

5. FF&E Design

  • Develop furniture layouts and furniture specifications.
  • Prepare FF&E schedules.
  • Specify furniture, lighting fixtures, accessories, artwork, and decorative elements.
  • Review supplier/manufacturer proposals and alternatives.
  • Coordinate custom furniture and loose furniture requirements.

6. Joinery & Custom Elements

  • Design reception counters, wardrobes, wall units, display units, feature walls, etc.
  • Prepare joinery design drawings and details.
  • Provide dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware, and design intent.
  • Review shop drawings submitted by contractors/suppliers.
  • Review samples and mock-ups.

7. Detailed Design / Tender Documentation

Typical drawings include:

  • General arrangement plans.
  • Furniture layouts.
  • Setting-out plans.
  • Flooring plans.
  • Ceiling plans.
  • Finish plans.
  • Internal elevations.
  • Detailed sections.
  • Joinery details.
  • Door and hardware schedules, where applicable.
  • FF&E schedules.
  • Material and finish schedules.
  • Lighting coordination drawings.
  • Design specifications.
  • BOQ information / quantity take-off, if included in the contract.

8. 3D Visualization

  • Produce 3D models and high-quality renders for key spaces.
  • Prepare design presentations.
  • Incorporate approved client comments.
  • Issue final approved renders for presentation/marketing purposes.

9. Consultant Coordination

  • Coordinate interior design with architectural drawings.
  • Coordinate with MEP, electrical, structural, lighting, AV, IT, kitchen, acoustics, signage, and specialist consultants as applicable.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts.
  • Attend coordination meetings.
  • Update drawings based on approved coordination requirements.
