Assistant Factory Manager

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing and managing the overall factory operations to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day activities.
  • Lead and coordinate 6S activities and continuously improve the factory working environment.
  • Promote staff engagement, teamwork, morale and motivation within the factory.
  • Chair factory meetings and follow up on operational issues and action items.
  • Prepare and submit reports for Management Review Meetings and reporting to the Managing Director and Headquarters (HQ).
  • Establish, monitor and review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and follow up on necessary improvement actions.
  • Ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System, including Internal Audits, Corrective Actions, Preventive Actions and Management Review.
  • Prepare internal audit schedules, compile audit findings and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and approve quality-related documents and forms issued by the QA Department and Process Owners.
  • Review and approve Special Job Request Forms and Trial Request Forms.
  • Review and approve new material purchase information and Material Review Reports.
  • Evaluate and approve corrective actions relating to material suppliers and general operational/quality issues.
  • Review and approve supplier requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Review and approve factory-related fixed asset and operating expense requisitions.
  • Review and approve machinery repair requisitions.
  • Liaise and communicate with Headquarters (HQ) on factory operations, quality matters, management reporting and other business requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with HQ and provide necessary reports, updates and follow-up actions in Japanese.
  • Perform other factory management duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, Business Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in manufacturing, factory operations, quality management or a related field.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Japanese is essential, as the position requires regular reporting, meetings and business communication with Headquarters (HQ) in Japanese.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in factory operations, quality management systems, internal audits and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Strong planning, organizational, leadership and management skills.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across departments, suppliers, subcontractors and management.
  • Proactive, responsible and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
