Associate Learning Designer
Summary
Supports the design, development, and implementation of learning solutions at Manulife. Creates digital learning content using authoring tools like Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, Vyond, and Camtasia, supports LMS deployment, and collaborates with SMEs and stakeholders on instructional design projects.
The Associate Learning Designer (ALD) supports the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of learning solutions that address business and performance needs. Working under the guidance of Learning Designers and Senior Learning Designers, the ALD applies foundational instructional design principles, learning technologies, and established development standards to create engaging, accurate, and learner-centered experiences.
This role is designed for individuals who are building professional expertise in learning design, strengthening business acumen, and developing the judgment required to independently manage learning projects in the future. The ALD is expected to demonstrate strong learning agility, curiosity, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Learning Design & Content Development
Support the design, development, and updating of learning solutions using established instructional design principles, templates, and standards.
Create and maintain learning assets, assessments, learner materials, and supporting resources.
Ensure learning content is accurate, complete, and aligned to business and learner requirements.
2. Digital Learning Production
Develop learning content using approved authoring tools and technologies.
Apply Manulife branding, accessibility requirements, and development standards when creating learning materials.
Support LMS-related activities and learning deployment requirements.
3. Project Execution
Complete assigned learning design tasks and deliverables within agreed timelines.
Participate in quality assurance, testing, reviews, and revision cycles.
Escalate risks, dependencies, and challenges while seeking guidance when needed.
4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
Work closely with Learning Designers, Senior Learning Designers, SMEs, and business stakeholders.
Incorporate feedback effectively and contribute to design discussions.
Demonstrate professionalism, responsiveness, and customer focus in project interactions.
5. Continuous Learning & Capability Building
Develop foundational skills in learning design, digital authoring, project management, communication, and business acumen.
Seek coaching, apply feedback, and demonstrate learning agility.
Build readiness for progression to the Learning Designer role through increasing independence and capability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated learning agility, curiosity, and commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating digital learning content, presentations, job aids, or training materials.
Exposure to e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, Vyond, Camtasia, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and online learning environments.
Experience working in project-based, collaborative, or customer-focused environments.
AI-Enabled Learning Design Capability
Demonstrated openness to working alongside Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve productivity, creativity, quality, and learner outcomes.
Willingness to learn, experiment with, and responsibly apply AI-assisted workflows in learning analysis, content development, storyboarding, multimedia creation, quality assurance, and project delivery.
Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs, apply sound judgment, and ensure accuracy, compliance, accessibility, and learner relevance before implementation.
Growth mindset toward emerging technologies and continuous innovation in learning design practices.
