Backend Engineer (TypeScript)

Build and improve backend infrastructure for web-scale data systems, with a focus on TypeScript development, metrics, monitoring, alerting, deployment automation, production troubleshooting, and code quality.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve backend code primarily in TypeScript
• Set up and maintain metrics dashboards for production systems
• Improve system observability through metrics and monitoring
• Set up alerts and work with DevOps to optimize production systems
• Automate deployments and operational reporting to Slack
• Troubleshoot production issues and fix bugs
• Improve the existing codebase
• Write and maintain automated tests
• Improve deployment processes
• Implement enhancements as requirements emerge

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years of experience in a backend software engineering role
• Solid TypeScript development skills
• Strong backend software engineering fundamentals
• Understanding of metrics, monitoring, and alerting
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot production systems
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
• Ability to make reliable improvements to existing systems
