We're a talented bunch who are passionate about our purpose: Unleashing potential through connectivity. Enabling better futures for Aotearoa.

Te Momo Tūranga | Contract: Fixed Term, Full Time

Te Wāhi | Where: Christchurch or Queenstown

Te Pūtake | Why we're hiring: We're stepping into our next chapter, aspiring toward 80% fibre uptake across the motu by 2030. With our new strategy providing the roadmap for what we're working to achieve and how we'll get there, opportunities are emerging as we seek to expand our capability and talent in new and different spaces.

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for a commercially minded relationship builder to lead the commercial engagement with developers, construction partners, councils, and key stakeholders across the property development ecosystem. You'll identify high-value fibre opportunities, convert new developments, and re-engage customers where opportunities have previously been lost to competitors. This is a relationship-driven role where your ability to leverage industry networks, influence decision-makers, negotiate effectively, and position Chorus as the preferred fibre partner will directly contribute to our growth in high-potential and under-penetrated regions.

Working closely with internal project managers and service company partners, you'll ensure commercial commitments transition seamlessly into delivery. From shaping tailored solutions for complex developments to leading responses to competitive bids, you'll bring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You'll also play an important role in strengthening relationships across the development and construction sectors, identifying repeat opportunities, and building a strong pipeline of future projects that support Chorus' long-term growth.

This is an opportunity for an experience BDM who enjoys working across the full lifecycle of a deal, from early opportunity identification and customer engagement through to delivery and ongoing partnership. Success in this role will come from your ability to build credibility within the development and construction industry, uncover opportunities early, and create long-term value through trusted relationships.

Ō Wheako, ō Pūkenga | Your Experience

We're looking for a commercially savvy relationship builder who thrives on uncovering opportunities, influencing decisions, and turning complex deals into successful outcomes. Ideally, you'll also bring:

· Significant commercial sales or business development experience within the construction, property development, infrastructure, utilities, telecommunications, or related sectors.

· Established networks and relationships within the construction and property development industry, with the ability to identify and unlock opportunities through those connections.

· A strong understanding of the property development and construction landscape, including key market drivers, stakeholders, and decision-making processes.

· Demonstrated ability to convert high-value opportunities and manage complex stakeholder environments.

· Experience operating in competitive bid environments and leading commercial negotiations.

· Experience working closely with project teams, contractors, service companies, or delivery partners to achieve successful outcomes.

· Strong customer-facing experience with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.

· Proven ability to influence and coordinate work across cross-functional teams, even without direct reporting lines.

· Strong commercial acumen and negotiation capability.

· Ability to persuade and influence across multiple stakeholder groups.

· High integrity and alignment with ethical business practices.

· Ability to balance customer needs with organisational strategy and revenue objectives.
