1. Position Summary

The Geological Camp Manager is responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operation of a remote geological exploration camp supporting gold exploration activities. The position ensures that camp operations, accommodation, catering, water, fuel, transportation, housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, health and safety, security, and personnel welfare are managed efficiently and in accordance with company policies and Saudi Arabian regulations.

The Camp Manager will coordinate closely with the Exploration Manager, Geologists, Drilling Contractors, HSE personnel, Procurement, Logistics, and other contractors to ensure uninterrupted support to field exploration activities.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Camp Operations

  • Manage the daily operation of the geological exploration camp.
  • Ensure accommodation, offices, kitchen, dining facilities, laboratories, warehouses, and common areas are properly maintained.
  • Coordinate camp services for geological, drilling, surveying, and other field teams.
  • Establish and maintain camp operating procedures and daily routines.
  • Monitor camp capacity and accommodation allocation.
  • Ensure the camp remains operational and adequately supplied at all times.

B. Personnel Management

  • Supervise camp support personnel, including cleaners, cooks, drivers, maintenance staff, and other camp workers.
  • Prepare staff schedules, shifts, and rotation plans.
  • Monitor attendance, discipline, performance, and general welfare of camp personnel.
  • Coordinate the arrival and departure of employees, visitors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate camp personnel and accommodation records.

C. Food & Catering

  • Manage catering services and ensure adequate food supplies.
  • Monitor food quality, hygiene, storage, preparation, and serving standards.
  • Coordinate menus according to workforce requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate storage temperatures and hygiene practices for food.
  • Monitor catering consumption and minimize unnecessary food waste.
  • Coordinate with catering suppliers and conduct regular inspections.

D. Water, Fuel & Utilities

  • Ensure continuous availability of potable drinking water and technical/industrial water.
  • Monitor diesel and other fuel supplies for generators, vehicles, and camp equipment.
  • Maintain records of water and fuel consumption.
  • Coordinate deliveries and maintain sufficient emergency stock.
  • Monitor generators, electrical systems, air-conditioning, water systems, sewage systems, and other camp utilities.
  • Report equipment failures and coordinate corrective maintenance.

E. Procurement & Inventory

  • Prepare camp supply requirements and submit purchase requests to Procurement.
  • Monitor stock levels of food, cleaning materials, PPE, office supplies, spare parts, consumables, and other camp materials.
  • Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels for critical supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks.
  • Receive and verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documents.
  • Prevent stock shortages, excessive inventory, damage, and wastage.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics for timely deliveries to the remote camp.

F. Logistics & Transportation

  • Coordinate transportation of personnel, materials, equipment, water, fuel, food, and other supplies to and from the camp.
  • Coordinate vehicle schedules with field exploration activities.
  • Monitor vehicle availability and basic maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure drivers comply with company safety procedures.
  • Coordinate logistics during mobilization, demobilization, and emergency situations.

G. HSE & Emergency Management

  • Ensure camp operations comply with company HSE policies and applicable Saudi regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety.
  • Conduct regular camp inspections and identify hazards.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, emergency equipment, and emergency communication systems are available and maintained.
  • Support emergency response, evacuation, medical emergencies, fire incidents, extreme weather, and other emergencies.
  • Participate in emergency drills and ensure personnel understand emergency procedures.
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the appropriate management/HSE personnel.

H. Security & Access Control

  • Coordinate camp security arrangements.
  • Control access of employees, contractors, visitors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain visitor and vehicle records where required.
  • Coordinate with security personnel regarding camp access and emergency situations.
  • Ensure company property and camp facilities are properly protected.

I. Maintenance & Facilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of accommodation, offices, kitchens, bathrooms, generators, HVAC systems, water systems, sewage systems, and other facilities.
  • Prepare maintenance requests and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance contractors and technicians.
  • Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for camp facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure accommodation and working facilities remain in good condition.

J. Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare daily/weekly camp operation reports.
  • Maintain records of:
  • Camp occupancy
  • Food consumption
  • Water consumption
  • Fuel consumption
  • Inventory and stock levels
  • Personnel movements
  • Vehicle movements
  • Maintenance activities
  • Incidents and HSE observations
  • Report operational issues and supply shortages to management promptly.
  • Maintain proper documentation for camp-related purchases, deliveries, and services.

3. Coordination with Exploration Operations

The Camp Manager must understand the operational requirements of a gold exploration project and provide continuous logistical support to:

  • Geological mapping teams
  • Sampling teams
  • Diamond/core drilling teams
  • Reverse circulation (RC) drilling teams
  • Surveying/geodesy teams
  • Core logging and core cutting facilities
  • Sample preparation and laboratory activities
  • Field technicians and contractors
  • Exploration management

The Camp Manager should anticipate operational requirements and ensure that personnel, accommodation, food, water, fuel, transportation, and other essential services are available before they are required.

4. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Mining, Geology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing remote camps, mining camps, exploration camps, construction camps, or similar facilities.
  • Experience in a mining, drilling, geological exploration, oil & gas, or remote-site environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is an advantage.
  • Valid driving license and ability to operate in remote desert environments.

  • Knowledge of other languages used by the project workforce is an advantage.

7. Working Conditions

  • Remote geological exploration camp in Saudi Arabia.
  • Site-based position with rotational work schedule.
  • Work may involve long hours and irregular working conditions depending on exploration activities and operational requirements.
  • Must be comfortable working in remote desert conditions and high-temperature environments.
  • Frequent coordination with field teams, contractors, suppliers, and management.

The Camp Manager will be evaluated based on:

  • Continuous and uninterrupted camp operations.
  • Availability of food, potable water, fuel, and essential supplies.
  • Camp cleanliness and accommodation standards.
  • Compliance with HSE requirements.

  • Reduction of unnecessary wastage.
  • Timely resolution of maintenance and operational issues.
  • Employee satisfaction and welfare.
  • Quality and accuracy of operational reporting.

9. Authority & Accountability

The Camp Manager is accountable for the effective day-to-day operation of the camp and has authority, within approved company procedures and budgets, to coordinate camp personnel, suppliers, contractors, logistics, accommodation, catering, maintenance, and other camp-support activities.

The Camp Manager must immediately escalate any serious HSE incident, security issue, major equipment failure, supply shortage, medical emergency, or operational risk to the responsible Project/Exploration Manager.

10. Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a practical, highly organized and hands-on camp management professional who can independently manage a remote exploration camp, anticipate operational requirements, control costs and supplies, supervise support personnel, and maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness and employee welfare.

Experience specifically in gold exploration, drilling, mineral exploration, or mining camps will be strongly preferred.
