Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, you will serve as the operational leader and CEO's peer, owning the company's operating model, enterprise services, business operating system, AI-enabled operations, organisational transformation, risk stewardship, and Venture Studio operations.
Responsibilities
- Own the operational model, structures, systems, and rhythms across the organisation.
- Design and deploy the business operating system, including frameworks, workflows, metrics, and governance.
- Lead the Executive Committee and executive operating cadence.
- Set organisation-wide KPI, metrics, governance, and performance-management frameworks.
- Support the CTO in rebuilding engineering and delivery capability.
- Lead Enterprise Services across People, ICT, Finance, and Legal.
- Own contracts management, procurement, vendor strategy, facilities, workplace, and remote-first operations.
- Set the strategy for AI-enabled workflows and agentic systems across the business.
- Partner with the CEO and CPO on organisational design, talent, compensation, and performance management.
- Hold group-level budget authority and partner with the CFO on budgeting and reporting.
- Own enterprise operational risk, business continuity, incident response, information security, data governance, and privacy.
- Own the operating model of the Venture Studio and support technical incubation and spin-outs.
- Act as the CEO's operational peer in board reporting, regulatory conversations, and partner negotiations.
Requirements
- Extensive C-suite or equivalent executive leadership experience with a broad functional remit.
- Proven experience leading operations at scale in an engineering-led company.
- Experience leading operations, people, finance, and technology-adjacent functions simultaneously.
- Experience leading large-scale organisational transformation and distributed operating models.
- Senior operational or general management background at a world-class software or technology company.
- Experience acting as a peer or operational partner to a CEO or founder.
- Strong background in OKR design, governance frameworks, and cross-functional programme delivery.
- Demonstrated experience with AI, agentic systems, and AI-enabled operations.
- Familiarity with Web3, blockchain, or deep tech is advantageous; intellectual curiosity is required.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent professional experience.
