Cloud Systems Administrator

Position Summary

We are seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to join our IT team with a focus on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and cloud security.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Microsoft administration background with hands-on Azure experience and an interest in continuing to develop their cloud and security expertise. This position will work closely with our infrastructure, security, development, and data teams to support and improve our Microsoft cloud environment.

While familiarity with traditional Windows infrastructure is important, the primary focus of this position will be Azure and Microsoft cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Microsoft Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage, networking, monitoring, and related cloud services.

  • Manage Azure access and permissions using RBAC, managed identities, service principals, and application registrations.

  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID, including users, groups, Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, enterprise applications, and identity troubleshooting.

  • Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online, including mailboxes, mail flow, permissions, licensing, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

  • Assist with Azure and Microsoft cloud security, including least-privilege access, identity protection, security monitoring, and Microsoft Defender technologies.

  • Support Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, backup, monitoring, and cloud infrastructure projects.

  • Use PowerShell and other tools to automate administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.

  • Work with other IT teams to troubleshoot cloud, identity, access, connectivity, and security-related issues.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the security, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency of our cloud environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of IT experience in systems administration, cloud administration, Microsoft 365 administration, or a similar role.

  • Hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Exchange Online.

  • Understanding of Azure RBAC, MFA, Conditional Access, and identity/access management.

  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, DNS, VPNs, and virtualization.

  • Basic PowerShell experience and an interest in automation.

  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to independently research and resolve unfamiliar technical issues.

Preferred Experience

Experience with technologies such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Key Vault, Azure Policy, Azure Arc, Azure Local, Intune, PIM, Microsoft Graph, PowerShell automation, backup/disaster recovery, EDR, or vulnerability management is a plus.
