Role Summary

As a Commercial Legal Counsel, you will provide strategic and practical legal support across commercial transactions, IP licensing and technology-related matters. You will work closely with commercial, R&D, product and finance teams to support business negotiations, manage legal and commercial risks, and advise on cross-border matters involving Singapore and overseas stakeholders. You will also work closely with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and external counsel to support the company's global business activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with commercial and business teams on customer engagements, negotiations and key business projects
  • Draft, review and negotiate sales, licensing, services, collaboration, technology and other commercial agreements
  • Advise on intellectual property, IP licensing and technology transaction-related legal matters
  • Assess legal and commercial risks and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to sales, product, R&D and finance teams
  • Support the development and maintenance of contract templates, legal guidelines and related processes
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and professional advisers on commercial, IP and other legal matters as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification
  • Singapore-qualified lawyer, admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Candidates qualified in another major common law jurisdiction will also be considered
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience with a leading law firm or multinational/in-house legal team
  • Must have substantial hands-on experience in intellectual property matters, particularly IP licensing, technology transactions or IP-related commercial matters
  • Strong commercial drafting, negotiation and risk assessment skills
  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin, with strong written and verbal proficiency in both languages, and able to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking overseas stakeholders and handle Chinese-language business and legal materials
  • Experience in the semiconductor, electronics, software or broader technology sector is preferred
