Commercial Manager

Roles & Responsibilities

The Commercial Manager will drive business growth within the marine and offshore sectors by identifying prospective clients and developing new commercial opportunities. The position involves conducting customer meetings, preparing competitive proposals and working closely with internal departments to meet revenue targets while delivering practical, customer-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive business development activities within the marine and offshore sectors to grow the company’s customer base and market reach.
  • Plan and conduct regular customer meetings, vessel visits and field sales activities to understand client needs and gather market insights.
  • Establish trusted, long-term partnerships with both existing customers and new prospects to strengthen retention and repeat business.
  • Manage the full sales process, including preparing quotations, commercial proposals and tender submissions, as well as following up on enquiries and negotiations.
  • Deliver agreed sales, revenue and profitability targets through effective account management and business-development strategies.
  • Present the company’s products, services and value-added solutions in line with customers’ operational and commercial requirements.
  • Track industry developments, customer demand, competitor activities and market pricing to support informed sales planning.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse and Finance teams to coordinate the smooth fulfilment of customer requirements.
  • Follow through on quotations, order fulfilment, delivery schedules, service matters and customer feedback to maintain a high standard of service.
  • Handle customer concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring appropriate solutions and preserving customer confidence.
  • Assist with payment collection and outstanding-account follow-ups to support healthy cash flow.
  • Maintain accurate customer profiles, sales activities, visit reports, opportunities and pipeline updates in the relevant records or systems.
  • Represent the company at exhibitions, industry functions, networking sessions and other business-development events.
  • Contribute to departmental projects, management initiatives and process improvements that strengthen operational and commercial efficiency.
  • Perform other reasonable duties or special assignments as directed by Management.

Preferred Competencies & Qualifications

  • Diploma, degree or comparable professional qualification in Business, Sales, Maritime Studies, Logistics, Engineering or another relevant discipline would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in sales, business development, key-account management or customer service.
  • Exposure to the marine, offshore, ship-handling, logistics, technical-supply or related sectors would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with confidence in negotiating commercial terms and engaging stakeholders at different levels.
  • Commercially driven and customer-oriented, with a strong focus on achieving sales targets and delivering practical value.
  • Able to identify customer needs, assess market challenges and develop appropriate commercial solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, managing pressure and carrying out field assignments such as customer meetings, port visits and vessel boarding.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications for preparing quotations, proposals, reports and other business documentation.
