Job Description

Ares is seeking a Program Manager for our Cybersecurity and Information Technology team. The Program Manager will collaborate with technology and security teams within the organization and will be responsible for managing and reporting on programs to support strategic long-term and short-term goals. The Program Manager will lead project prioritization & coordinate activities between multiple projects to ensure they align with the organization’s business goals and broader objectives.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in identifying critical projects from the various cross functional groups in cybersecurity and technology and be able to collaborate with project managers and leads to onboard and prioritize projects that impact the overall Cybersecurity, IT, and business objectives. The candidate should be well versed in cybersecurity concepts, reporting the program/portfolio status and health, and be able to implement and lead an organized, structured, and scheduled method of communication; reporting necessary updates, reprioritizations, risks, and accomplishments of the core projects within the program.

Primary functions and essential responsibilities

  • Understand organization goals and values and organize programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Identify and organize priority technology projects from various cross functional groups into a central program.
  • Prioritize projects within the program with leadership to support the strategic direction and objectives of Cybersecurity, IT, and the Business.
  • Implement a project review and onboarding process, including an impact analysis and a process to reprioritize projects as needed.
  • Develop an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure success and exit criteria are established and appropriate for each project.
  • Ensure and work with project leaders for reporting on project status, health, risks, issues, and criteria progress.
  • Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project and program goals are achieved.
  • Produce and communicate accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.
  • Analyze, summarize, and report on critical program risks to all levels of the organization.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, transparently and directly reporting project issues and decisions.
  • Assist and mentor project managers, team leads, and team members within the cybersecurity vertical(s) with project management, planning, and execution related activities.
  • Create visually empowering documents that drive clear objectives, promote, deliver, and/or confirm goals/objectives.
  • Work with the CISO on development of cyber maturity strategy, inclusive of development and tracking of remediation and maturity improvement workstreams.
  • Perform other related duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification is a plus
  • Cybersecurity certifications (i.e. CISSP), a major plus

Experience Required:

  • At least 5+ years in a program and project management or project delivery role (preferably in an investment management and/or big-tech firm)
  • Proficient knowledge of technology projects and program management concepts, from planning and inception through implementation and support
  • Experienced in implementing program strategies, oversee collaboration, define success metrices
  • Excel at Risk and Conflict Management
  • Experience in developing programs, resource plans, project plans, timelines, and roadmaps
  • Experience of Agile project management methods and tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet
  • Experience working with IT leadership and coordinating focused programs and plans
  • Experience and a good understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), and associated controls
  • Experience with budget planning, tracking, and forecasting

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$160,000 - $200,000
