About the Role:
We are seeking experienced Cyber Security Advisers to lead and support the delivery of governance, risk, and compliance activities.

Primary Duties:
  • Perform complex risk assessments and prepare the necessary artefacts for systems seeking or maintaining system authorisation, utilising established frameworks and methodologies and taking into consideration factors such as threats, vulnerabilities and Foreign Ownership Control and Influence (FOCI).
  • Define risk treatment strategies and control baselines relevant to the Department environment to ensure whole-of-life coverage for authorised systems.
  • Perform Security Impact Assessments (SIA) across multiple projects in a view to determine next security assessment step.
  • Interpret findings from IRAP, Penetration Test, SOC1 or SOC 2 reports while conducting SRAs.
  • Review Service Providers’ (including third party) risk management documentation (SRA, SRMP) to ensure adherence to Department Risk Management Framework and contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate effectively in a multi-vendor environment and maintain strong client engagement.
  • Support compliance activities aligned with the Authorisation Framework.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to executive stakeholders
  • Manage urgent SRA requirements for high priority projects
  • Issue, review, and re-evaluate Security Approval to Operate (SATO).


Location and Contract Term: This role can be based in Canberra, Brisbane CBD, Melbourne CBD and Sydney CBD . 12 month contract with 1 x 12-- month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval.

Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a baseline security clearance.
