This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for cyber security strategy, governance, risk, compliance, incident response, operational security and vendor management.

You'll work closely with executives, governance committees, technology teams, enterprise risk stakeholders and external partners. The role will suit someone who can operate strategically while remaining close enough to delivery to keep priorities moving.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Leading and improving the organisation's cyber security framework, strategy and roadmap.
  • Providing clear cyber risk, compliance and security updates to executives and governance committees.
  • Leading cyber risk assessments and overseeing treatment and mitigation plans.
  • Managing security policies, standards, audits and assurance activities.
  • Leading cyber incident response and supporting investigations.
  • Overseeing operational security services, including SOC and SIEM arrangements.
  • Strengthening vendor governance and third-party cyber risk management.
  • Providing cyber security input into business and technology projects.
  • Leading internal team members and external security partners.
  • Working across the organisation to improve cyber awareness, resilience and security maturity.
What we're looking for
You'll be an established cyber or information security leader with experience operating in a complex organisation.

Ideally, you'll bring:
  • Experience developing and delivering cyber security frameworks, strategies and roadmaps.
  • Strong cyber governance, risk, compliance and assurance capability.
  • Experience with security operations, incident response, audits and vulnerability management.
  • The ability to communicate credibly with executives, boards and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience leading teams, managed service providers and technology vendors.
  • Strong commercial judgement and a practical approach to managing risk.
  • Experience within energy, utilities, critical infrastructure, government, financial services or another regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, the Essential Eight, ACSC guidance or Australian critical infrastructure requirements would be valuable.

The opportunity
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a broad cyber security function and help an organisation strengthen its security maturity during an important period.

The position is expected to be an initial six month contract based in Brisbane. Further details regarding the organisation, reporting structure and priorities will be shared during a confidential conversation.

If you're interested, apply through SEEK or contact Maddie for a confidential discussion.
