Deputy General Counsel

Serve as the primary legal contact for regulatory matters across the Middle East and CIS, engaging with financial regulators, advising on product launches, monitoring regulatory developments, managing external counsel, handling enforcement matters, and supporting local compliance across products, marketing materials, terms, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal contact for regulatory matters across the Middle East and CIS.
• Lead engagement with financial regulators, including licensing applications, notifications, RFI responses, and supervisory relationships.
• Advise senior stakeholders on regulatory implications of new product launches.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate changes into guidance for business and compliance teams.
• Partner with and manage external counsel on complex regulatory matters.
• Handle regulatory correspondence, enforcement matters, and relationships with law enforcement and government authorities.
• Provide legal input on marketing materials, product terms, and contractual arrangements.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Government Relations, and Product teams on regulatory strategy.

Requirements

• Hold a law degree and be eligible to practice as an advocate.
• Have 12+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in financial services or crypto.
• Have experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues, or strong interest and knowledge in the field.
• Understand or be eager to learn the relevant legal and regulatory landscape.
• Be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Have the ability to advise effectively and build trust with business teams.
• Have experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and with a global legal team.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts.
