Design Manager
Summary
Design Manager leading BIM-based design development and coordination for curtain wall and aluminium facade projects. Manages BIM execution plans, multi-discipline clash detection, QA/QC, and authority submissions using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Efficient and effective management of design development, co-ordination, approval and issue for construction.
- Develop and maintain a project-specific BIM Execution Plan to define the BIM objectives, deliverables, responsibilities and procedures for each project.
- Implement and enforce compliance with BIM standards to ensure quality and consistency in model creation, data management and coordination.
- Use BIM tools to coordinate the design among architectural, structural and MEP disciplines, ensuring clash detection and resolution are carried out effectively.
- Ensure that the design requirements of contract are met.
- Plan, check, monitor and report on design progress.
- Liaise with and co-ordinate with local and overseas designers.
- Manage the creation, maintenance and quality assurance of BIM models, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all project stages from design stage to as-built.
- Establish and implement QA/QC processes for BIM deliverables, ensuring that models are compliant with the BEP and meet project requirements.
- Ensure that data within the BIM models is accurate, up-to-date and securely managed, following digital information security protocols.
- Ensure that the as-built BIM model is accurate and complete, preparing it for handover to the client with all necessary documentation.
- Generate regular reports on BIM model progress, clashes identified/resolved, and any design adjustments needed.
- Printing of project construction-related drawings in both digital and hardcopy format for distribution, such as Construction Drawing, Shop-drawings, As-Built and any other deliverables described in corporate BIM standards and Project BEP.
- Attend client meetings and lead the decision-making process affecting the BIM deliverables.
- Hold effective design co-ordination meetings and liaise with consultants and project teams.
- Ensure authority submissions are planned, accurate and technically complete.
- Constantly monitor and maintain the best compliance of drawing submission according to the project schedule.
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary and as assigned by the Senior Management.
- Knowledge of local authorities' rules and regulations related to curtain wall facade, aluminium facade and related works.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
- Min 5 years related experience in the field of curtain wall facade, aluminium facade and related works.
- Good organisation and communication skills.
- Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Certificate in Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Certificate in Autodesk Revit Architecture for BIM Modelling.
- Certified with Specialist Diploma in Building Information Modelling (BIM) by BCA Academy and any BIM authoring software’s modelling course by the software vendor’s authorized training provider.
- Completed at least one full cycle at design phase or construction phase.
