Role Summary

The Manager, DevOps Engineering is the lead hands-on engineer responsible for the India-based DevOps capability supporting enterprise applications, integrations, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure. The role combines technical leadership with direct engineering accountability across Azure infrastructure, networking, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, security, environment management, observability, and production readiness.

This is not a process-focused or administrative management role. The manager is expected to personally design, build, review, and troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment pipelines, network configurations, access controls, monitoring, and automation. The role will also establish engineering standards, mentor DevOps engineers, review technical work, and serve as the escalation point for complex infrastructure and deployment issues.

The manager will work closely with enterprise architects, application teams, integration engineers, data engineers, networking, security, and delivery leadership to ensure environments and deployment processes are secure, repeatable, scalable, and operationally supportable. The role is accountable for improving delivery discipline, reducing manual processes, resolving environment bottlenecks, and ensuring infrastructure and releases are ready for production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor DevOps engineers while remaining hands-on in delivery.

  • Design and support Azure infrastructure, networking, identity, monitoring, and platform services.

  • Manage virtual networks, subnets, private endpoints, DNS, routing, firewalls, and IP capacity.

  • Build and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or Terraform.

  • Design and support Azure DevOps YAML pipelines and reusable deployment templates.

  • Automate environment provisioning, configuration, testing, release, rollback, and recovery.

  • Implement Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, service principals, RBAC, Key Vault, and least-privilege controls.

  • Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, and operational runbooks.

  • Review infrastructure code, pipeline code, scripts, and security changes.

  • Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, incident response, and production-readiness reviews.

  • Enforce DevOps, security, release, and operational engineering standards.

  • Partner with architecture, application, integration, data, networking, and security teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or related experience.

  • 4+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure engineering experience.

  • 2+ years in a lead engineer or technical management role.

  • Strong Azure networking and IP-address planning experience.

  • Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Bicep, Terraform, or both.

  • Strong Azure DevOps and YAML pipeline experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, service principals, and Key Vault.

  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.

  • Strong scripting skills using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash, or Python.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineers while remaining technically hands-on.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Azure Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, and microservices.

  • Experience with D365 Finance and Operations, Power Platform, or Dataverse.

  • Experience with Azure Policy, security scanning, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.

  • Experience with containers, AKS, or site reliability engineering practices.
