Duty Manager Rail Replacement

Working mainly nightshifts, the role of Duty Manager will be the immediate contact for LNER Railways to manage and monitor Pre-planned Rail Replacement services and to source Emergency vehicles. Working time will be in the York Rail control room in York, you will be expected to be available at all times when on duty and respond to any requests from the client in a timely manner.

Duties will include:
• Source buses and coaches from internal and external companies at short notice at the request of the client at the most competitive rate where possible,
• Control utilisation of the resources acquired above in the best of interests of the railway and their passengers,
• Source buses and coaches from internal and external companies at the most competitive rate to fulfil requirements during pre-planned engineering works,
• Keep accurate records of work requested, work allocated, operators and costs,
• Control operation of the resources used on a schedule basis, in conjunction with any Coordinators or designated Station Staff situated at the stations,
• Responsible for the quality of our customer-focused response,
• Monitor and report on the activities of coordinators,
• Logging of all actions or events to generate an audit trail,
• Work effectively with internal and external suppliers and colleagues,
• Monitor proposed roadworks for potential clashes with rail replacement operations,
• Ensure Coordinators and Drivers complete paperwork fully as requested,
• Supply data to TOCs or SRRL Managers as requested,
• Maintain information database e.g. Operator details, contingency plans, tracking,
• Liaise with operators generally to maintain working relationships,
• On occasion, carry out the duties of Rail Replacement Coordinator or Senior Coordinator at a station or Stations,
• Be familiar with Google Map databases
• Always have a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues, including a duty to report unsafe acts or omissions to safety,
• To provide efficient and effective administrative support,
• To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as requested by SRR Managers.
