EFTPOS Support Technician
Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 per year
Venue Smart is a growing Australian payments business supporting around 2,000 merchants across Australia and processing approximately $2 billion in transactions annually.
We're looking for an EFTPOS Support Technician to join our Service Quality team in Toowoomba.
This is a hands-on technical role combining remote troubleshooting and customer support with the configuration, preparation and testing of EFTPOS terminals and associated equipment.
You don't need previous EFTPOS or payments experience - we can teach you that.
What we're looking for is someone with strong technical aptitude, a genuine interest in technology and a natural ability to work through problems logically. You might already work in a technical environment, or you may have developed strong hands-on technical skills in another role.
What You'll Be Doing
Providing technical support for EFTPOS terminals via phone and our ticketing system.
Troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity, configuration and integration issues.
Working through technical problems logically to identify and implement solutions.
Managing technical issues within the scope of the role and recognising when further assistance or escalation is required.
Working with our Technical Team Leader, technical team and external providers to resolve issues.
Configuring, testing and staging EFTPOS terminals ready for deployment.
Coordinating the recovery of terminals from merchants and testing returned equipment.
Assisting with terminal stock, equipment movements and related operational activities.
Assisting with new terminal configurations, software updates and product testing.
Maintaining accurate support tickets and technical documentation.
Identifying recurring issues and contributing to improvements in our support processes.
Who We're Looking For
We're less concerned about whether you've worked with EFTPOS before and more interested in how you approach technical problems.
You'll enjoy understanding how things work, be comfortable investigating problems and have the persistence to work through possible causes until you find a solution.
You may have experience in areas such as:
Technical or product support.
POS or hospitality technology.
Telecommunications or connected devices.
Field or equipment support.
Electronics, hardware or software support.
Another role where troubleshooting technology or equipment has been a significant part of what you do.
More importantly, you'll be able to demonstrate:
Strong technical aptitude and an interest in technology.
Logical and methodical problem-solving skills.
Confidence learning new hardware, software and systems.
The ability to troubleshoot and investigate technical issues.
Clear and professional communication skills.
The ability to explain technical information to people who aren't technically minded.
Good attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
The ability to manage technical issues within the scope of your role while recognising when additional assistance is required.
A current Australian driver's licence.
We'll Teach You EFTPOS
Previous EFTPOS or payments experience isn't required.
You'll receive structured onboarding and hands-on training in our EFTPOS terminals, payment platforms, systems and troubleshooting processes, supported by experienced members of our technical team.
We're looking for the underlying technical capability, curiosity and problem-solving skills. We'll teach you the payments technology.
Hours and Flexibility
Our merchant support operates between 8.00am and 6.00pm Queensland time, seven days per week.
You'll have regular rostered days and hours, so you'll know your normal working pattern. There is also an opportunity to discuss working your full-time hours across four days per week.
From time to time, you may be asked to work different days or hours to assist with team leave coverage or other operational requirements. This is expected to be occasional rather than a regular feature of the role.
If a public holiday falls on your normally rostered working day, you may be required to work that day. Additional hours and public holiday work will be remunerated in accordance with applicable Award and company arrangements.
Why Venue Smart?
You'll join a small technical team where you'll get hands-on exposure to real-world payments technology and have the opportunity to develop specialist technical knowledge.
You'll work across EFTPOS terminals, payment systems, connectivity and integrations while supporting a network of around 2,000 merchants across Australia.
For someone who enjoys technology and solving problems, it's an opportunity to build specialist expertise in a growing area of payments technology.
