What you’ll do
As an Electrical Design Manager, you are responsible for leading the electrical design of mission-critical data center projects, including utility connections, power distribution, backup power, earthing, lighting and related building electrical systems. You will ensure electrical systems are safe, reliable, scalable, maintainable, energy-conscious and well-integrated with the wider data center infrastructure.
You will work closely with different internal teams, local consultants, contractors, vendors, utility providers, authorities and operations stakeholders to deliver coordinated, compliant and high-quality design solutions. You’ll play a key role in ensuring DayOne’s electrical infrastructure meets company standards, applicable European and local regulations, authority requirements, industry best practice and end-user expectations.
The key responsibilities include,
- Electrical Design Oversight: Leading and managing the electrical design process for data center projects, including utility intake, substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS, generators, power distribution, busway, earthing, lighting and related electrical systems.
- Power Infrastructure Planning: Overseeing the design of MV/LV distribution, backup power systems, redundancy arrangements, power pathways, equipment layouts, load requirements and future expansion capacity.
- Standards and Compliance: Applying DayOne’s in-house electrical standards, design principles and lessons learned, while ensuring designs meet applicable industry standards, local regulations, authority requirements, project specifications and end-user expectations.
- Systems Integration: Coordinating electrical interfaces with mechanical, architectural, civil, structural, fire protection, ELV/ICT, BMS/EPMS/DCIM, security, operations, commissioning and construction requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Providing technical guidance on electrical systems to support reliability, redundancy, safety, maintainability, scalability, operational readiness and project delivery requirements.
- Design Review and Quality Assurance: Reviewing drawings, specifications, calculations, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, system architecture diagrams, technical studies and proposals to verify completeness, coordination, technical accuracy and constructability.
- Vendor and Consultant Coordination: Working with consultants, contractors, vendors and suppliers to review and select electrical equipment, systems, materials and technical solutions aligned with project needs and lifecycle expectations.
- Construction, Commissioning and Handover Support: Supporting technical issue resolution, installation coordination, testing, commissioning, as-built review, documentation checks and handover activities for electrical systems.
