Engineering Manager Accounts Platform
Lead the Accounts team through its transition into separate Accounts and Ledger teams, defining technical boundaries, setting architecture and reliability direction, and owning SLOs, observability, on-call, stakeholder partnerships, and engineer development.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Accounts team through the ledger split and sequence the transition.
- Define technical boundaries for ledger writes, consistency guarantees, schema ownership, account opening, lifecycle management, and statements.
- Set the Ledger Team’s technical direction for performance, availability, consistency, and long-term architecture.
- Own system stability and operational reliability through SLOs, observability, and on-call practices.
- Partner with product, compliance, and internal operations teams to deliver accurate, supportable, and compliant solutions.
- Develop engineers at every level.
- Align with other engineering managers on cross-cutting banking infrastructure decisions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated engineering management experience leading teams through delivery.
- Backend engineering foundation.
- Experience leading distributed remote-first teams across time zones.
- Experience leading technical teams, aligning with senior leadership, and partnering with product.
- Fintech or banking domain experience.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and correctness-critical systems.
- Knowledge of high-volume distributed systems, consistency models, fault tolerance, reliability patterns, SLOs, SLAs, and observability.
- Backend engineering experience in a strongly typed language.
- Experience with microservices in a cloud-native environment.
- Relational database engineering experience at scale, including transactions, consistency guarantees, and write performance.
- Experience with event-driven and asynchronous systems.
- Experience with distributed systems migrations at scale.
- Exposure to agentic or AI-integrated systems and engineering practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
