Engineering Manager Accounts Platform

Lead the Accounts team through its transition into separate Accounts and Ledger teams, defining technical boundaries, setting architecture and reliability direction, and owning SLOs, observability, on-call, stakeholder partnerships, and engineer development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Accounts team through the ledger split and sequence the transition.
  • Define technical boundaries for ledger writes, consistency guarantees, schema ownership, account opening, lifecycle management, and statements.
  • Set the Ledger Team’s technical direction for performance, availability, consistency, and long-term architecture.
  • Own system stability and operational reliability through SLOs, observability, and on-call practices.
  • Partner with product, compliance, and internal operations teams to deliver accurate, supportable, and compliant solutions.
  • Develop engineers at every level.
  • Align with other engineering managers on cross-cutting banking infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated engineering management experience leading teams through delivery.
  • Backend engineering foundation.
  • Experience leading distributed remote-first teams across time zones.
  • Experience leading technical teams, aligning with senior leadership, and partnering with product.
  • Fintech or banking domain experience.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and correctness-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of high-volume distributed systems, consistency models, fault tolerance, reliability patterns, SLOs, SLAs, and observability.
  • Backend engineering experience in a strongly typed language.
  • Experience with microservices in a cloud-native environment.
  • Relational database engineering experience at scale, including transactions, consistency guarantees, and write performance.
  • Experience with event-driven and asynchronous systems.
  • Experience with distributed systems migrations at scale.
  • Exposure to agentic or AI-integrated systems and engineering practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
