As a Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical expert on the Ask VA project, with a focus on integrating, sustaining, and enhancing the Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM environment and its integration with VA.gov and other enterprise systems. You will be hands-on in design, development, and testing, while also guiding technical direction, ensuring adherence to security/compliance standards, and driving modern DevSecOps practices. While this role does not include people management, it requires strong technical leadership, the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams, and the judgment to make architectural decisions that balance scalability, maintainability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively engage with stakeholders to understand needs, communicate progress, and align CRM solutions with program objectives.
- Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM customizations (C#/.NET plugins, workflows, and configurations).
- Build and optimize RESTful APIs that connect CRM with VA.gov and other systems.
- Contribute to frontend integrations using ReactJS and TypeScript, ensuring consistency with VA.gov’s design standards.
- Work with SQL Server to design and maintain backend data structures that support CRM functionality.
- Support CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and enforce secure coding practices.
- Collaborate with QA engineers to expand automated testing coverage for CRM integrations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance with VA requirements.
- Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) to align development with program priorities.
- Stay current with Dynamics 365 Wave releases and apply relevant updates to maintain system performance.
