External Accounting Advisor

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need someone passionate about external reporting and technical accounting roles, with a strong interest in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and communicating financial results to stakeholders. This role will manage the audit and preparation of the Gross Revenues Statement and related audit working papers, as well supports month-end and other financial reporting processes.

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Director External Reporting and Technical Accounting, you will be empowered to:

  • Lead the preparation of the annual Gross Revenues Statement and audit working papers, including serving as the primary liaison with external auditors

  • Lead the fulfillment of OLG's contractual reporting obligations, collaborating directly with various internal departments across the organization

  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes

  • Support financial statement audits and internal control reviews, including the preparation of audit working papers

  • Prepare briefing notes and related documentation for Executive Leadership, the Audit and Risk Management Committee, and the Board of Directors

  • Support internal departments with financial information requests, including requests from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming and external stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure proper controls and systems are in place for month-end and year-end financial reporting processes

  • Review, analyze and assess contracts for accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS on a timely basis.

  • Support all Finance lines of business and other internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with IFRS, provide reference material, assist implementing accounting recommendations, prepare working papers to support decisions

  • Support ongoing continuous improvement in all processes

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE GAME

Education & Experience:

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including the preparation of financial statements, working papers, and the application of financial controls and procedures.

  • Demonstrated experience applying IFRS accounting standards in a financial reporting environment.

  • Experience working with IFRS revenue recognition standards is required.

  • Experience supporting external reporting, audit activities, and financial governance processes is considered an asset.

  • Understanding of OLG's business model and the lottery and gaming industry is considered an asset.

  • Superior presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical accounting concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience preparing presentations, briefing notes, and executive materials for a variety of stakeholders.

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

  • Operates with integrity, transparency, and accountability while demonstrating sound professional judgment.
