Chesapeake Fire Protection is looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Manager to lead our design department and ensure high-quality, code-compliant, constructible fire sprinkler and suppression system designs. This is a leadership role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for developing people and improving processes.
🎯 What You’ll Do
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of fire sprinkler designers.
- Oversee designs for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects.
- Ensure designs meet NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
- Review and approve drawings, hydraulic calculations, and submittals.
- Coordinate design needs with Project Managers and field teams.
- Develop and maintain department standards, templates, and workflows.
- Support permitting and respond to AHJ questions.
- Assist with resource allocation, project planning, and departmental budgeting.
- Lead design reviews, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in client meetings and represent the Design Department across the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
⭐ What You Bring
- High school diploma; technical training or degree preferred.
- 8+ years of fire sprinkler design experience.
- 3+ years of design management or supervisory experience.
- NICET Level III or IV in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, hydraulics, and NFPA standards.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and fire protection design software.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- SprinkCAD, AutoCAD, or HydroCAD experience preferred.
