Fitness Center Manager – Key Responsibilities

A Fitness Center Manager oversees the daily operations of a fitness facility, manages staff, develops fitness programs, and ensures a safe, professional, and high-quality experience for members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the overall daily operations of the fitness center.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate fitness instructors and operational staff.
  • Develop and implement fitness programs, personal-training packages, group classes, and member-engagement activities.
  • Ensure that fitness programs are suitable for members’ needs and aligned with current industry practices.
  • Monitor membership enrolment, retention, customer feedback, and service quality.
  • Handle member inquiries, complaints, and service-related matters professionally.
  • Develop marketing and promotional initiatives to attract new members and increase revenue.
  • Prepare operational budgets, monitor expenditure, and review the financial performance of the fitness center.
  • Maintain proper records of memberships, payments, class schedules, staff attendance, and operational activities.
  • Ensure all gym equipment is properly maintained, serviced, and safe for use.
  • Implement workplace safety, hygiene, emergency-response, and risk-management procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Singapore regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies.
  • Liaise with landlords, vendors, equipment suppliers, trainers, and other business partners.
  • Prepare operational and performance reports for management.
  • Support the business expansion and long-term development of the fitness center.
