Front-End Engineer
We at ING Mortgages NL are looking for a Front-End Engineer to help us create an excellent interface for our users. Utilising Web Components, some key principles for our IT department is Customer experience, security and DRY principles. We utilise Team Topologies to efficient work together with our many squads, following a variation of the Spotify model with chapters and full-stack devops squads.

A mortgage is one of the most important financial decisions in the life of our customers. Our purpose: we offer customers financial and emotional stability when purchasing their dream house and offer a carefree living afterwards. We provide them with excellent advice and exceed customers and intermediary expectations.
The team
You will be part of a squad: a self-managing, autonomous unit with end-to-end responsibility for a customer journey, e.g. the online scheduling of an appointment with a mortgage advisor, or interest rate adjustments and mortgage repayment. You will be involved in the whole development lifecycle, from refining user stories until monitoring software in production, where your main focus will be coding.

Our stack
Our back-end APIs are created with an internal Spring (Boot) based framework and run on virtualized hardware. The front-end is built in Web Components utilising lit-html. To comply with our regulators demands, our releases processes can feel bureaucratic from time to time. This means that you need to be a quick learner to understand them, and you need to have the ambition to improve and automate as much as possible.

- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a relevant field
- 4 years or more of software engineering experience, preferably in creating highly scalable, secure and high-performance applications
- Experience in developing Front end applications with JavaScript (ES5/ES6), HTML and CSS (Experience with latest version as well).
- Good knowledge of front end frameworks and working experience in developing Web components using one or more frameworks of Angular, ReactJS, VueJS, Polymer and/or Lit-HTML/Lit-Element
- Experience with setting up your own pipeline configuration
- Knowledge of test driven development and test automation
- Knowledge of JSON, REST, web-services, microservice architecture.
- Familiar with continuous integration tools such as: GIT, Azure, Yarn, NPM (and are able to configure these tools)
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in Agile / Scrum or Kanban
Furthermore, you have great analytical skills and conceptual understanding. You are able to quickly understand new technical concepts and technology and you have a strong interest in, and vision on, the latest trends in software development and technology. You have strong communication skills that enable you to explain complex technical concepts to non-techies. Your English in speaking and writing is fluent and you are a team player who likes to join the social events of the squad and ING organisation.
