Head of Quality Engineering (Remote - Work from Anywhere)
Lead quality engineering strategy for a fully distributed crypto bank. Own coverage standards, quality gates, AI-assisted test tooling, automated release enforcement, quality metrics, and enablement across engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Own coverage standards, quality gates, and quality contribution to the Definition of Done.
- Define coverage baselines and drive adoption across engineering teams.
- Exercise pre-release veto authority when quality gates are not met.
- Design and scale AI-assisted test generation, regression coverage, integration tooling, and agentic QA pipelines.
- Enable Stream Aligned Teams through training, documentation, tooling, and templates.
- Partner on QA environments, test data management, and integration test infrastructure.
- Report on defect escape rate, coverage trends, release veto rate, tooling adoption, and manual intervention.
- Integrate SAST, DAST, and dependency scanning into quality gates.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software quality engineering experience owning quality frameworks across engineering organizations.
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD quality gates for unit, service, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience with AI-assisted test tooling, LLM-driven test generation, agentic QA pipelines, or equivalent.
- Ability to raise quality standards through tooling, documentation, and frameworks without direct reporting authority.
- Understanding of distributed, event-driven microservices, contract testing, and integration test data strategies.
- Experience defining and tracking quality metrics.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Experience in regulated fintech, payments, or banking environments with mobile-first product delivery.
