Job Summary:
The General Manager, Information Systems (GMIS) will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, implementation, and management of all information systems and technology platforms that support the companys shipping and logistics operations. This role ensures that IT initiatives align with business objectives, enhance operational efficiency, strengthen cybersecurity, and drive digital transformation across global shipping and logistics functions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute the companys IT strategy in alignment with business goals.
· Identify and implement digital transformation opportunities to optimize shipping and logistics operations.
· Manage IT budget, investments, and vendor relationships effectively.
· Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of shipping management systems (e.g., Terminal Operating Systems, Freight Forwarding Systems, ERP, CRM, and Supply Chain platforms).
· Ensure integration between operational systems, finance, and customer service platforms.
· Lead projects on cloud adoption, system upgrades, automation, and emerging technologies (IoT, AI, blockchain).
· Develop and enforce IT security policies, ensuring protection against cyber threats.
· Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, maritime cybersecurity guidelines (IMO, ISO standards), and industry best practices.
· Oversee IT infrastructure and service delivery to ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance.
· Establish disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
· Provide leadership for IT support teams to deliver high-quality service to global users.
· Lead and mentor IT managers, project teams, and technical specialists.
· Collaborate with business leaders, port operators, logistics managers, and external partners to deliver effective IT solutions.
· Manage key vendor and technology partner relationships.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelors or Masters degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
· 1215+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior management role.
· Strong knowledge of shipping, logistics, or supply chain systems and technologies.
· Proven track record in digital transformation, ERP/CRM implementation, and large-scale IT project management.
· Experience with maritime/shipping IT systems is a MUST
· Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards.
