Grants Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Are you a skilled grant writer who enjoys building relationships and turning opportunities into meaningful results? The Grants Manager plays a key role in advancing the Council’s mission by identifying, cultivating, and securing public and private funding opportunities. This position develops compelling grant proposals, manages grant timelines and compliance, builds relationships with United Ways and community partners, and works collaboratively across departments to ensure funding goals are achieved. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and communicator, highly organized, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and passionate about connecting philanthropic support to programs and services that make a difference in the community.

This is a full-time position with a 35 hour workweek.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and submit compelling letters of intent and grants/proposals, which include planning, writing, reviewing, editing and finalizing proposal packages.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with United Ways and others through periodic meetings with organizational representatives to articulate the Council’s mission and philanthropic priorities.
  • Continually monitor fundraising progress through reporting and analysis and recommend creative strategies to ensure goals are met.
  • Manage grants and report timelines through a monitoring system that facilitates efficient coordination and tracking.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information, including contacts, on foundation, corporate, and government grant awards.
  • Monitor monthly net assets report to ensure grants are expended in accordance with funder requests and coordinate with internal departments to ensure grant compliance and timely fund expenditures.
  • Participate and speak at appropriate United Way agency fairs, community activities, and civic occasions.
  • Create sponsorship engagement plans that include cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Ensure the timely completion of action reports in the Raiser’s Edge database.
  • Collaborate with philanthropy team and other departments on special events, including groundbreaking ceremonies, ribbon cuttings, signature events, etc.
  • Identify new donor prospects that will result in broadening the donor pipeline for Council.
  • Serve as backup to philanthropy specialist as needed to enter donations and run reports.
  • Participate in department goal-setting, budgeting, and planning.
  • Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
