Head of Design

Lead and execute product design across Red Cell Partners and its portfolio companies, combining hands-on design execution with strategic leadership across UX/UI, prototypes, brand systems, storytelling, and web development support.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with founders, product, engineering, and leadership to translate ambiguous problems into clear product design direction.
  • Build concepts and future-state prototypes to test ideas and inform strategy.
  • Own user experience design across web, mobile, agents, wearables, and emerging modalities.
  • Design and ship products and improvements from early concepts through high-fidelity prototypes and visuals.
  • Design and ship product UX/UI, prototypes, brand systems, and storytelling.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on style and branding implementation.
  • Establish lightweight design frameworks, standards, and patterns.
  • Define scalable design systems as companies mature.
  • Navigate ambiguity, evolving priorities, and high-stakes decisions.
  • Balance speed, quality, and pragmatism.
  • Support web development for marketing, brand, and communications digital presence.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of product, UX, and front-end design experience, including leadership roles in high-growth startups or scale-ups.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of AI fundamentals and their application in product experiences.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Expert Figma and Figma Make skills or equivalent product skills.
  • Deep understanding of responsive, mobile-first design.
  • Experience designing across multiple phases of company growth.
  • Exceptional UX, visual design, systems thinking, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong product intuition connecting user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Proven ability to develop experiences that meet or exceed initial product proposals.
