Head of Payments, Business Development
Lead the business development team responsible for growing active accounts on the Stellar network. Develop payment, stablecoin, wallet, and vertical-specific strategies; build commercial engagement plans for merchants; manage strategic payment-provider relationships; drive priority deals; and support partnership, regulatory, government-relations, and ecosystem event objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the team responsible for driving monthly active account volume.
- Develop strategies for payouts, commerce, ramps, wallet growth, and aid.
- Analyze the global merchant payment ecosystem and establish a commercial engagement strategy.
- Develop priority target lists and ensure execution against primary targets.
- Manage strategic relationships with global payment service providers.
- Drive business development for DeFi, monthly address growth, and asset tokenization.
- Surface opportunities and help close business development deals.
- Support regional regulatory and government-relations needs.
- Identify, plan, and run regional events.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant business development experience with a proven track record of success.
- Significant experience in payment processing, fintech, or blockchain/crypto-related roles.
- Strong understanding of crypto payment systems, cryptocurrency exchanges, blockchain technology, and digital asset payments.
- Deep understanding of merchant payment systems and global and local payments.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience developing go-to-market strategies, identifying opportunities, and managing complex sales cycles.
- Experience with financial institutions, crypto companies, payment providers, or fintech startups.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel as needed for regional and global meetings and conferences.
