Inpatient Coder - QA Specialist

The Inpatient Coder – QA Specialist is responsible for reviewing and validating inpatient coding assignments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to coding guidelines and regulatory standards. This role supports quality assurance, audit processes, and revenue integrity.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit inpatient medical records and coding assignments for accuracy

• Validate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code assignments for inpatient encounters

• Perform quality assurance reviews on inpatient coding outputs

• Identify coding discrepancies and provide feedback for correction and education

• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory standards

• Support audit documentation and quality reporting initiatives

• Collaborate with coding, clinical, and revenue cycle teams

Qualifications

• Active PRN license (if applicable to clinical credential requirements)

• Must have CCS, CPC, or CIC certification

• At least 1 year of inpatient medical coding experience

• Preferably with experience in inpatient coding audit or QA functions

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
