IT Cyber Security Policy & Technical Support Assistant – 6 Month Contract
Trakka Corp is currently seeking an IT Cyber Security Policy & Technical Support Assistant to join our dynamic team on a 6-month contract.
Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the successful applicant will play a key role in strengthening and maintaining Trakka’s cyber security framework, policies and compliance requirements, while also providing hands-on technical support across the business.
This is a cyber security-focused role with a strong practical IT component, ideally suited to someone who understands that effective cyber security requires more than policies and paperwork. You will be involved in implementing security controls, maintaining documentation, responding to compliance requirements, identifying risks and helping ensure our systems and people operate securely.
The role will have two key areas of responsibility, with a strong focus on cyber security, governance and regulatory compliance.
Cyber Security, Policy & Compliance
A significant component of the role will be assisting Trakka with the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of its cyber security policies, procedures and controls.
You will work closely with the Chief Technical Officer to ensure cyber security requirements are understood, documented and effectively implemented across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
· Assist with the development, implementation and ongoing review of Trakka’s cyber security policies, procedures and controls.
· Assist in maintaining Trakka’s cyber security framework and ensuring security practices remain current and effective.
· Identify, assess and document cyber security risks, vulnerabilities and areas requiring improvement.
· Assist with implementing and monitoring appropriate security controls across IT systems and infrastructure.
· Support user access management, permissions and security controls.
· Assist with security monitoring, incident identification and the investigation and response to potential security events.
· Assist with maintaining cyber security registers, risk assessments, incident records and other security documentation.
· Support cyber security awareness activities and help educate staff on security responsibilities, phishing, passwords, data protection and other common cyber risks.
· Review existing IT practices and identify opportunities to improve security and reduce business risk.
· Assist with the investigation and resolution of cyber security-related issues.
· Keep up to date with relevant cyber security threats, industry practices and regulatory requirements.
· Assist with ensuring appropriate evidence and documentation is maintained to demonstrate compliance.
Regulatory & Customer Audit Compliance
The role will also have responsibility for assisting with regulatory, customer and compliance audits, including analysing technical questions and developing clear, evidence-based responses.
You will:
· Analyse regulatory and customer cyber security and IT audit questions.
· Coordinate the collection and review of supporting technical evidence.
· Prepare clear and accurate responses to audit requirements.
· Identify gaps between current practices and required security or compliance standards.
· Work with internal stakeholders to address identified gaps and implement improvements.
· Maintain an organised library of policies, procedures, evidence and supporting documentation.
· Track audit actions, corrective actions and outstanding compliance requirements.
· Assist with preparing for future audits and ensuring Trakka is continually improving its readiness.
· Develop tools, templates, registers and automated processes to make future audit responses faster, more consistent and less reliant on manual work.
A key outcome of the six-month engagement will be leaving Trakka with a stronger, more structured and sustainable cyber security and compliance framework, including improved processes for responding to future audits.
IT Infrastructure & Technical Support
Alongside the cyber security and compliance responsibilities, the successful applicant will provide practical IT support across Trakka’s infrastructure and users.
Responsibilities will include:
· Provide first-line technical support to staff and affiliated clients.
· Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, connectivity and user access issues.
· Assist with server and network administration.
· Support on-premises and cloud-based environments.
· Assist with system updates, configuration and maintenance.
· Support user accounts, permissions and device management.
· Assist with maintaining reliable and secure IT infrastructure.
· Identify and escalate technical issues where required.
· Ensure IT support activities are undertaken with appropriate cyber security considerations.
About You
We are looking for someone who is security-minded, technically capable, analytical and practical.
You will ideally have experience in cyber security, IT infrastructure, systems administration, compliance or a combination of these areas. Most importantly, you will be comfortable working across both cyber security governance and hands-on technical environments.
You will have:
· Experience in cyber security, IT support, systems administration, infrastructure or a related field.
· A strong understanding of cyber security principles and security best practices.
· An understanding of cyber security policies, controls, risk management and compliance.
· Experience working with networks, servers, cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· An ability to interpret technical and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical actions.
· Strong written communication skills, particularly when preparing technical or compliance documentation.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· The ability to investigate issues, identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
· A proactive approach to improving security and processes.
· The ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with the Chief Technical Officer and wider team.
Experience with recognised cyber security frameworks, regulatory standards, customer security questionnaires, audit processes or security certifications will be highly regarded.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take an active role in strengthening Trakka’s cyber security capability and compliance maturity, rather than simply providing day-to-day IT support.
You will have the opportunity to work across policy, risk, compliance, audits, security controls, infrastructure and user support, while helping build systems and processes that will continue to benefit Trakka well beyond the six-month engagement.
The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, based at our Moorabbin site, for a 6-month contract.
If you have a strong interest in cyber security and enjoy combining security, compliance, technical problem-solving and practical implementation, we would like to hear from you.
