IT Project Manager

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 + super

We're exclusively partnering with a well-established Melbourne business that is investing in the way it delivers technology projects.

This is a newly created role, the first dedicated project management position in the business, focused on the delivery of operational technology projects end-to-end. You'll report to the Head of Technology and work alongside a small but growing technology team.

There is a varied program of work ahead, spanning infrastructure and cloud, business systems, and emerging technology. Delivery is a mix of vendor-led work and work sitting with internal technical staff, so you'll move between managing external partners and driving activity within the team.

This is a role for someone who has been the only project manager in an SME environment and is comfortable building the structure themselves, rather than working within an established PMO.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver operational technology projects end-to-end, from planning through to handover
• Own project plans, milestones, risks, issues and dependencies, scaled appropriately to the work
• Coordinate vendors and hold them to agreed scope, timeframes and commitments
• Work closely with internal technical staff to sequence delivery and remove blockers
• Provide clear, practical reporting to the Head of Technology and wider business
• Engage stakeholders across the business and translate requirements into deliverable outcomes
• Establish repeatable delivery practices where none currently exist

About you

• Takes ownership and drives projects to completion without being chased
• Comfortable holding others to account
• Practical and outcome-focused, with structure proportionate to the work
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to build trust quickly across a business
• Confident dealing directly with vendors and technical teams on your own

Essential experience

• Experience as a project manager within an SME environment (non-negotiable)
• Proven experience of delivering technology projects end-to-end
• Ideally coming from a technical background - infrastructure, cloud, cyber security, disaster recovery, networks, endpoints, M365, identity or applications
• Experience managing external vendors through delivery
• Tertiary qualifications in IT or Project Management. PRINCE2, PMP or Agile certification advantageous
