Junior Back-End Developer - GIG Rewards App

Assist in developing and maintaining server-side components for web and mobile applications. Build and integrate APIs, work with databases, optimize performance and scalability, collaborate with front-end developers, troubleshoot issues, follow security best practices, and learn from senior developers while writing clean, maintainable code.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building and maintaining server-side logic and APIs for web and mobile applications
• Work with databases to optimize data storage, retrieval, and management
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code under supervision
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Troubleshoot and debug back-end issues to ensure smooth functionality and performance
• Contribute to the development and improvement of existing back-end services
• Follow and contribute to coding standards, best practices, and documentation processes
• Implement and help ensure data security and back-end security best practices
• Stay updated on emerging back-end technologies and tools

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience
• 1-2+ years of experience in back-end development
• Basic knowledge of at least one back-end programming language such as Python, Node.js, Ruby, Java, PHP, or .NET
• Familiarity with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), including database design and query optimization
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and how to build and consume them
• Basic knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git
• Eagerness to learn and improve technical skills in back-end development
• Experience or familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is preferred
• Basic knowledge of Docker or other containerization tools is preferred
• Familiarity with testing and debugging tools is preferred
• Understanding of web security concepts and best practices is preferred
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence is preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and priorities
• Attention to detail and commitment to clean, maintainable code
