Key Distribution Manager (Houston, TX)
Key Distribution Manager
Location: Houston, TX, On-site
Our client is seeking a commercially sharp, highly driven Key Distribution Manager to expand a growing wholesale network and capture new market opportunities throughout the territory. This is a high-impact sales role for someone who thrives on opening doors, building distributor relationships, and turning market intelligence into revenue. The right person will combine a true hunter mentality with the business acumen to speak confidently about margins, inventory, product movement, and customer economics. Success will come from knowing when to ask questions, when to listen, when to change the sales story, and when to push an opportunity across the finish line.
This Role Offers:
- A visible commercial role with direct influence over territory growth and channel expansion.
- The opportunity to develop new wholesale and secondary reseller relationships while growing established accounts.
- Significant autonomy to pursue opportunities, build relationships, and shape account strategy.
- Exposure to distributor owners, buyers, sales teams, retail decision-makers, and other key stakeholders.
Focus:
- Build a territory growth plan for wholesale partners, independent distributors, and secondary resellers across the assigned market.
- Open new wholesale relationships through persistent outbound prospecting, cold calls, in-person visits, referrals, and creative account access strategies.
- Expand revenue within existing distributor accounts by uncovering assortment, coverage, inventory, and promotional opportunities.
- Lead consultative sales conversations that adapt to buyer priorities, margin expectations, and changing objections without relying on a scripted pitch.
- Use sales and market data to spot whitespace, prioritize accounts, track product movement, and turn insights into practical growth actions.
- Partner with distributor owners, buyers, sales teams, and retail customers to coordinate launches, promotions, incentives, and merchandising activity.
- Monitor inventory health and product flow, helping partners maintain appropriate stock while reducing avoidable out-of-stocks and excess returns.
- Prepare and lead recurring account reviews that connect performance trends with clear next steps and measurable commercial goals.
- Manage territory spending and customer programs with disciplined attention to budget, qualification requirements, and expected return.
- Travel throughout the territory to develop relationships, win new business, strengthen execution, and stay close to local market conditions.
Skill Set:
- Direct experience selling through wholesale or distributor channels, with a strong understanding of how products move through reseller networks.
- A true hunter mindset, including comfort with cold calling, door knocking, persistent follow-up, and building business where no relationship exists today.
- Strong situational selling skills, including the ability to ask sharp questions, listen closely, read the customer, and adjust the value story in real time.
- Fast, confident business math skills, especially margins, dollars, pricing, and basic profitability calculations.
- Working proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to organize account information and communicate a clear commercial story.
- Several years of success in wholesale account management, distributor development, chain sales, or a comparable consumer products sales environment.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 40 percent within the assigned territory.
