The Role
An exciting permanent opportunity - The Lead Spatial Analyst oversees the delivery of agreed mapping and spatial analysis outputs. Reporting to the Manager of Business Intelligence (BI) and Geographic Information Services (GIS), the Lead Spatial Analyst will engage with a broad range of stakeholders to collect business requirements, efficiently develop modern web mapping applications, and ensure these tools effectively support decision-makers.
The Lead Spatial Analyst will manage a team of Senior Spatial Analysts, providing day-to-day coaching and mentoring and ensuring the Spatial (GIS) team are effectively collaborating, and sharing knowledge and learnings with their colleagues across the Strategic Services Directorate.
The Lead Spatial Analyst will be responsible for the continuous improvement of data sets and reports, ensuring that FRV continues to meet agreed standards and deliverables.
Functional Accountabilities
Lead various activities related to the gathering of spatial (GIS) requirements, engaging with diverse stakeholders to translate business requirements into functional specifications
Identify and recommend appropriate technology solutions (new or existing) and ensure all processes and technology are compliant with FRV's information management requirements
Oversee execution and delivery of static maps, web-based mapping applications, and document workflows used by internal customers and external stakeholders to support strategic decision making
Lead complex engineering of web-based mapping applications, including resolution of problems and blockers, applying expert knowledge and technical skills to ensure efficient and best-practice work
Lead and deliver continuous improvement initiatives related to existing maps, applications, data quality aspects and documentation of workflows
Lead a team of Senior Spatial Analysts, delegating and reviewing work, providing feedback, coaching and mentoring to increase capability and skills within the spatial (GIS) business unit
Interpret mapping outputs into meaningful advice and recommendations for senior stakeholders and FRV's Executive Leadership Team
Manage relationships with data custodians from external agencies and implement inter-agency pathways to assess the value and relevance of external datasets to FRV
Represent FRV in various multidisciplinary working groups, consulting and liaising with key internal and external stakeholders

What you will need to Succeed
A tertiary qualification in a numeric field such as statistics, mathematics, economics, commerce or social science (required)
A relevant post graduate qualification (highly desirable)
Demonstrated experience in a Data Analyst or Spatial Analyst role within emergency services (or similar) industry
Proven experience partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders.
Experience in the use of analysing and combining complex spatial datasets.
Strong experience in using GIS Software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise or similar system(s).
