Legal Counsel
You'll join Xsolla as an experienced lawyer, creating legal documents for new business strategies and applying legal techniques related to implementing new business ideas. You will advise the business on legal issues and implications of potential business decisions, initiatives, and payment strategies, providing strategic legal solutions for general business and legal matters. You'll stay current on laws and regulations around payment services and digital innovation, including cryptocurrencies, blockchain, NFTs, and decentralized finance. You'll identify, summarize, and analyze the impact of new and proposed rules and regulations on business decisions and current strategies. You'll draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other documentation supporting new business ideas, and work closely with business and technology teams to help them develop compelling product and service offerings. You'll manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and provide other legal services and advice to the company as needed.
Responsibilities
- Consult the business on legal issues and implications of potential business decisions, initiatives, and payment strategies.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws and regulations around payment services and digital innovation, including PSD2, EMI/PI licensing, AMLD/AML-CFT, MiCA, cryptocurrencies, blockchain, NFTs, and DeFi.
- Identify, summarize, and analyze the impact of new and proposed rules and regulations on business decisions and current strategies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other documentation for new business ideas.
- Work closely with business and technology teams to understand objectives and help develop product and service offerings.
- Manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Provide other legal services and advice to the company as needed.
Requirements
- Advanced English proficiency at C1 level or higher for non-US candidates.
- Minimum 5 years of legal experience.
- Comfort with Jira, Confluence, Slack, Figma, and similar collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of corporate law, financial services law, EMI and PI licensing, PSD2, AMLD/AML-CFT regulations, and GDPR.
- Excellent legal research, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize, identify issues, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in DeFi, cryptocurrency, and blockchain technology, including familiarity with MiCA and eagerness to learn more.
- Experience in the crypto or gaming industry and familiarity with payment systems are nice to have.
