Level 3 Network Engineer

Salary: $90,000 – $130,000 per year

Emerging IT is an Australian Managed Service Provider supporting more than 280 businesses nationally. We’re looking for an experienced Level 3 Network Engineer / Technician with strong enterprise networking experience across Cisco, Juniper and Fortinet to join our Sydney Technical Support team.

This is a hands-on senior technical role supporting a dedicated enterprise environment. You’ll own complex Level 3 incidents, troubleshoot enterprise networks, support infrastructure changes and provide technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 engineers.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for:

• Owning and resolving complex L3 networking and infrastructure incidents

• Troubleshooting complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network environments

• Troubleshooting routing, switching, VLANs, LAN/WAN, VPN, wireless and connectivity issues

• Supporting Cisco, Juniper, Juniper Mist, Aruba and Meraki environments

• Troubleshooting Fortinet and Sophos firewalls

• Working with OSPF, BFD, STP, BPDU Guard, REP and stacking technologies

• Supporting Cisco StackWise and StackWise Virtual

• Working with FortiGate VDOMs and HA/failover

• Supporting Juniper Virtual Chassis and Junos

• Performing root cause analysis and resolving recurring issues

• Supporting network upgrades, infrastructure refreshes and project work

• Managing network and firewall changes through appropriate change-control processes

• Working with vendors, technical teams and client stakeholders on complex incidents

• Maintaining network diagrams, configuration records and asset documentation

• Mentoring Level 1 and Level 2 engineers

About You

You’ll bring:

• Experience working at L3 or as a senior technical escalation point

• Experience within an MSP or complex enterprise IT environment

• Strong hands-on enterprise networking experience

• Strong Cisco networking experience

• Experience with Juniper, including Juniper Mist

• Experience with Aruba, with exposure to Meraki

• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN and VPN

• Hands-on FortiGate experience

• Strong network troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• The ability to work independently, manage priorities and take ownership of complex issues

• Experience mentoring junior engineers

Certifications

Relevant certifications are highly regarded, including:

• CCNA / CCNP

• Fortinet

• Juniper JNCIA / JNCIS

• Juniper Mist

• Aruba

• ITIL v4 Foundation

Location

This is a Sydney-based, on-site position, working across our North Sydney office and dedicated client site in Barangaroo as required. This role does not include a work-from-home arrangement.
