Maintenance Support Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a positive and proactive professional who effortlessly switches between policy, execution, and operations.

For our Animal Health location in Boxmeer, we are looking for a Maintenance Support Engineer

Welcome to our team

Our Animal Health site in Boxmeer is the largest location within our global animal health network and focuses on the research, development, and production of animal health products according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. We support three production departments in the areas of maintenance and projects. The departments produce inactivated vaccines and pharmaceutical products according to strict GMP standards in sterile preparation and filling facilities.

You will join a driven team of approximately 14 colleagues, where collaboration and knowledge sharing are central. The team consists of a great mix of specialists: 6 to 7 technicians who ensure everything keeps running daily, 4 work planners who provide structure and planning, another Maintenance Support Engineer (MSE) who contributes to improvements and development, and a technical administrative assistant who supports the whole operation. Together, you form a team where experience, practical knowledge, and ambition come together. There is plenty of room to learn, contribute, and help build the further development of the department.

About the role

As a Maintenance Support Engineer, you are responsible for the efficient preparation, coordination, and execution of complex maintenance work on production installations, utilities, HVAC systems, and peripheral equipment.

You play an important role in ensuring the reliability and availability of installations, in line with production, safety (SHE), and business objectives. While the Maintenance & Reliability Engineer determines what needs to be done, you are responsible for how it is executed.

It is a dynamic role in which operational management, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement come together.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Preparing, coordinating, and supervising complex maintenance work (incl. shutdowns and projects)
  • Optimizing maintenance strategies and initiating and executing improvement initiatives
  • Aligning and planning work with production and other stakeholders
  • Drafting work permits, LOTO procedures, and risk analyses (TRA)
  • Input into risk analyses (PHA) and process optimizations
  • Monitoring planning, quality, safety, and budget
  • Supporting and optimizing SAP Plant Maintenance (key user)
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., PED, SHE, GxP)
  • Point of contact for suppliers, contractors, and external parties
  • Contributing to continuous improvements within the maintenance organization
  • Coaching and guiding colleagues where necessary
  • Representing the maintenance department in new construction and modification projects
  • Reporting, documenting, and managing KPIs and maintenance data

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree (HBO) in a technical field or MBO+ with relevant work experience
  • Experience in maintenance, engineering, or a similar environment
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes, planning, and work permits
  • Experience with SAP PM or similar systems is a plus
  • Familiar with safety standards and regulations (e.g., NEN, ISO, GxP)
  • Technical knowledge of, for example, HVAC, utilities, or process installations is a plus
  • Good command of Dutch and English (verbal and written)

We offer

You will join an open, diverse, and collegial team. The role offers a very broad and diverse field of work with great variety in projects at a growing site with more than 2000 employees, where multiple production facilities, laboratories, installations, and buildings come together in all life stages, from historical systems to state-of-the-art new construction. Furthermore, you can count on:

  • Competitive salary depending on your knowledge and experience.

  • 3% end-of-year bonus and an annual bonus based on individual and company results.

  • At least 35.5 vacation days.

  • Travel allowance and a solid pension scheme.

  • A high-quality company restaurant with fresh and healthy options daily.

  • Excellent accessibility: the train station is located directly at our main entrance and there is ample parking.

  • A contribution to your personal gym membership to support your vitality.

  • A beautiful private park on the premises, ideal for a walk, break, or moment of relaxation.

  • Mental health support via Lyra Health for you and your family members.

  • Access to a separate prayer/meditation room.

  • Extensive growth opportunities thanks to the size of the site and the presence of many disciplines and global departments represented in Boxmeer.

  • A workplace within an organization that is continuously growing and developing.
