The Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) is a regional government-to-government initiative promoting cooperation to combat piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia. The ReCAAP ISC, established in Singapore, serves as a Centre of Excellence for information sharing.

Job Summary

Support the ReCAAP ISC by gathering and analyzing maritime piracy data, assisting in report drafting, coordinating communications with Focal Points, and organizing events to enhance regional maritime security cooperation.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and collate information on maritime piracy and armed robbery incidents from Focal Points, partner organizations, and internet sources to ensure timely dissemination within the ISC
  • Take detailed notes during ISC visits and projects to support accurate record-keeping and follow-up actions
  • Consolidate briefing materials for the Executive Director to prepare for discussions with the Governing Council Chairman and other stakeholders
  • Draft regular and ad hoc reports on maritime security developments to inform ISC leadership and partners
  • Communicate with Focal Points to clarify and verify incident reports, ensuring data accuracy
  • Populate the Incident Follow-up Notification (IFN) database with historical piracy and armed robbery incidents to maintain comprehensive records
  • Organize and coordinate ISC events as directed to support stakeholder engagement and information sharing
