Role Overview
A global industrial organisation is seeking a Research Analyst to support the development of its commodity market intelligence capabilities. The role will deliver data-driven analysis across global commodity markets, helping internal stakeholders identify emerging risks, opportunities and market trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental supply-and-demand analysis across steel, raw materials and mined commodities.
- Provide market insights and recommendations to support procurement, commercial and strategic decision-making.
- Monitor developments across freight, energy transition, decarbonisation and ESG.
- Collect and maintain market data while improving analytical processes through automation and statistical modelling.
- Translate complex market information into clear reports, presentations and actionable recommendations.
- Present commodity market insights to internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Build relationships with traders, miners, steel producers, brokers and research providers to strengthen market intelligence.
Requirements
- Degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance, Geology, Data Science or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in commodity market analysis, consulting, mining or commodity trading.
- Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Understanding of commodity value chains, preferably within ferrous or non-ferrous metals.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Mandarin language proficiency would be advantageous.
- Proactive, intellectually curious and detail-oriented, with a genuine interest in commodity markets.
