About the Role

The Customer Support Technology (CS Platform) team builds the systems that power eBay’s global customer service experience. As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will help design and deliver the workflow systems, automation platforms, and user experiences that improve agent productivity and customer outcomes at scale. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with end-to-end ownership across the stack, from frontend experiences to backend services, data, and action layers. You will contribute directly to core platform capabilities, including scalable APIs, agent tools, and AI-powered orchestration and automation solutions, while partnering closely with Product, SRE, and cross-functional engineering teams.

What you will accomplish:

  • Design and deliver end-to-end product capabilities across UI, backend services, data, and workflow layers to improve the global customer support experience.

  • Build scalable APIs, web applications, and internal agent tools that increase operational efficiency and help support teams serve customers more effectively.

  • Contribute to platform evolution by developing automation systems and AI-powered capabilities, including orchestration layers, agent workflows, and intent-to-action experiences.

  • Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability through thoughtful design, strong testing practices, and continuous operational improvements.

  • Collaborate with Product, SRE, and engineering partners to review designs, strengthen development practices, and deliver high-quality solutions in a follow-the-sun support model.

  • Mentor junior engineers or lead small workstreams, helping raise technical quality, reduce tech debt, and support team growth over time.

What you will bring:

  • 4–8 years of full-stack software development experience, plus a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong backend development skills in Java 11+ and Spring Boot, including experience building REST APIs and working with distributed systems.

  • Strong frontend development skills in JavaScript or TypeScript, with experience using React, Angular, or similar frameworks to build responsive, performant web applications.

  • Experience working with data and platform technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, Kafka or similar messaging systems, and modern development tooling including CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Solid software engineering fundamentals, including testing strategies across unit, integration, and frontend layers, along with strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience or interest in areas such as workflow systems, customer support platforms, observability, secure application design, and AI-assisted or agent-based systems; participation in an on-call rotation is expected.
