Naval Architect (Marine and Offshore)

Summary

Naval Architect designing newbuild marine vessels, including hull forms, GA drawings, stability/hydrostatic calculations, and 2D/3D models, using AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, Maxsurf, and SolidWorks in collaboration with engineering, production, and project teams.

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Naval Architect. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and engineering of newbuild marine vessels, working closely with engineering, production, and project teams to deliver high-quality vessels that meet performance, functionality, and construction requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop vessel designs, layouts, and technical drawings for newbuild projects.
  • Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, hull forms, deck layouts, and accommodation layouts.
  • Perform stability calculations, weight estimates, hydrostatic calculations, and performance assessments.
  • Produce and review 2D and 3D design models, construction drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Project teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
  • Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors on technical specifications and design requirements.
  • Review and update design documentation throughout the construction process, including revisions and engineering changes.
  • Provide technical support during vessel construction, testing, commissioning, and sea trials where required.
  • Ensure designs comply with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable maritime regulations.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to design optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in naval architecture, shipbuilding, or marine vessel design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, Maxsurf, SolidWorks, or other marine design software.
  • Strong understanding of hull design, stability, hydrostatics, weight control, and vessel performance.
  • Experience preparing engineering drawings and construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of vessel construction materials such as composites or fibreglass is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, design, and production teams.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
