Papua New Guinea: Security Guard (Port Moresby Temple)

The Special Projects Department (SPD) is seeking a dedicated Security Guard to help protect Church properties, employees, visitors, and guests. This role provides security coverage to safeguard facilities from fire, theft, vandalism, trespassing, and unauthorized entry, while also delivering first aid assistance and responding appropriately to emergencies and security-related incidents. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, provide excellent customer service, and contribute to a safe and welcoming environment to temple patrons. This is a permanent full-time position reporting to the Temple Security Supervisor. We welcome applications from qualified women and men who meet the requirements of the role.

  • Conduct regular patrols and inspections of Church buildings and grounds during assigned shifts

  • Check doors, windows, gates, and other access points to ensure facilities remain secure

  • Identify and report security risks, safety hazards, and potential unauthorized entry points

  • Provide assistance, information, and directions to employees, visitors, and guests

  • Respond appropriately to security incidents, disturbances, threats, and emergencies, including liaising with emergency services when required

  • Render first aid assistance and coordinate medical response services as needed

  • Complete security reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and unusual events

  • Participate in ongoing security training to develop knowledge, skills, and security awareness

  • Work flexible shifts and be available to assist during emergency situations when required

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent security training is preferred

  • Basic reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to exercise tact in a variety of situations

  • 2 to 3 years of security, law enforcement, military, or related experience

  • Ability to successfully complete required security certifications and training, including CPR, First Aid, and Basic Security Procedures, within the required timeframe and maintain annual recertification

  • Ability to identify and respond appropriately to security and safety concerns

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure

  • Ability to communicate directions clearly and work effectively with others

  • Experience using security systems, electronic reporting tools, and proficiency with standard computer applications

  • Proof of legal right to work in Papua New Guinea

  • A police background check may be required
