Principal Architect

KAST is seeking a seasoned Principal Architect or Architecture Lead to serve as the primary technical authority for its transactional infrastructure. The role focuses on resilient microservices, payment processing, ledger systems, AWS cloud strategy, engineering standards, and security-by-design across a global fintech platform.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive KAST’s long-term technical architecture.
• Lead distributed-systems design for fault tolerance, high availability, and scalability on AWS.
• Architect payment processing, ledger management, and financial data consistency systems.
• Define architecture principles, coding standards, and CI/CD and IaC deployment patterns.
• Lead AWS strategy while optimizing resource utilization, latency, and cost.
• Integrate security-by-design principles to meet PCI-DSS and SOC2 standards.
• Mentor senior engineers, lead architecture review boards, and guide major technical decisions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience architecting large-scale payment platforms, ledger systems, or high-volume financial infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in microservices architecture, event-driven design, and distributed-systems trade-offs.
• Extensive experience designing and operating complex, high-traffic applications on AWS.
• Strong understanding of database patterns for financial data, transaction atomicity, and consistency models.
• Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and drive consensus on architectural trade-offs.
• Knowledge of security design within a regulated industry.
• Ability to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term architectural debt management.
